Children & Youth

At St Edward’s we aim to create an environment in our groups and services to allow children and young people to feel safe enough to share their lives and explore their faith. We want families to feel at home here, they are welcome and a precious part of our community.
We believe ministry begins with our youngest members. We hope to be a church that opens its arms to all ages.

We seek to transform the lives of our young people by:

  • Making young people an integral part of our community
  • Providing opportunities to learn about the Good News
  • Encouraging the enjoyment of worship & fellowship together
  • Supporting young people in their personal faith journeys
  • Building them up as young leaders.

Our Youth and Children’s ministry is split into several services and groups, with many children and young people involved in more than one!

Little Teds – Friday mornings (Term Time)

Little Teds is a friendly weekly service for pre-schoolers and their parents, grandparents or carers, held on Friday mornings during term time. The morning is full of songs, games, prayers, stories and lots of fun, as well as refreshments and lots of play!

We start at 10:30am and run until midday. During that time grown-ups have a chance to chat over a cuppa while the children play and have a snack; we have a short service with singing, a bible story and prayers, and a craft based around the theme of the morning.

Our aim is for families to feel part of a community that supports them and gives them friendships that last past their time in the group. We meet in the church extension and encourage the children to enjoy the building while singing songs, listening to the story and finding our Little Teds (who have a  habit of going missing…).

We look forward to meeting you!

Promise Primary and Promise Youth – Sunday, 10am Service

Bible based activities for our children and young people during the Sunday 10am service, for anyone in aged 5 – 18. We have lots of fun on a Sunday morning, exploring with the children what believing in Jesus means to us as a church family and to them as individuals.

Promise Crèche – Sunday, 10am Service

We have a crèche for our very youngest members where they have a chance to learn through play as they find out about Jesus during the service.

Youth Group – Wednesday evenings 7:00pm – 8:30pm

For the 11-18 age group, this is a place for our young people to have fun, relax, take part in activities and to explore their beliefs in a safe and loving environment. We regularly create things, solve problems and compete in games and quizzes, and give young people a chance to reflect on scripture and take part in prayer. We also hold Youth Group socials where we watch films, play games and get to know one another even better.
