Baptism/Christening

Baptisms/Christenings

Baptism, also known as Christening, marks the start of our journey with God. In the Christening service, we have the opportunity to thank God for his gift of life, to pray for God to be with us as we continue on our journey of faith, and to ask for the Church’s support as we grow in our knowledge and love of God.

In a Christening service, people of all ages are welcomed into the family of the Church, and so a christening will normally take place in your local parish church, or in a church where there is an existing worshipping connection.  To find out which is your local parish church, please enter your address or postcode on this website:

To explore arranging your christening here at St Edward’s or if you would like some help getting in touch with your local parish church,  please contact our Parish Office on 01904 709111.

Our Christening / Baptism services take place on the last Sunday of each month at 3pm in the afternoon. We then invite the newly baptised and their immediate family back to our next Family Service on the first Sunday of the month at 10am, so that we can welcome them into the wider family of the Church.
