Many of us will have been baptised as a baby. At our baptism, promises will have been made on our behalf about following Jesus. Confirmation marks the point in a person’s life when we can publicly take up the promises that were made on our behalf at their baptism and commit ourselves to a life of discipleship following Jesus.
At a service of Confirmation, the person will remake the promises made for them at Baptism, and then the Bishop will pray for them, that they are filled with the Holy Spirit to be able to live out the promises that they have just made.
