Exploring Faith

The church runs a number of courses throughout the year offering opportunities for people to discuss all matters related to faith and belief. Despite the church being closed for meetings, there have been online book groups, virtual book stalls and online reflections.

ALPHA

You’re invited to join us at St Edward the Confessor each Tuesday night from Tuesday 6th May 2025 7.00-9.00PM for our 10 week Alpha course. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of Christian Faith. It’s a safe space to explore the ‘big questions’ and to meet with others. Each week, we’ll share a meal and discuss a ‘big idea’. Interested? Contact 709111 or [email protected] to let us know you’re joining us!

Church Library

For those who wish to explore their faith through reading, the church has a library of Christian and theological books. This is located within the atrium café and is clearly signed. The books range from the classics to more recent writers and topics. The system for borrowing books is to complete a slip and place in the locked box. These details are kept in the Parish Office, so your personal details are secure.

To return a book, complete a slip and leave it inside the book in the basket provided. No personal details are retained.

Church Book Stall

There are three bookstalls held each year which offer the opportunity to purchase some inspirational/devotional reading. There is one just before Lent, one in the summer and one before Advent. These are advertised on the pew sheet and will also be advertised on the website under What’s On.

Parish Weekend

Every other year, there is a Parish Weekend at Wydale, an Anglican retreat centre near to Scarborough (https://www.wydale.org). The weekend offers further opportunities to explore faith and get to know others within the church. The weekend combines teaching sessions alongside times for relaxation and fun.
