Besom Hamper

Each year St Edward’s, along with other churches across York, collect items for the Besom Christmas Hampers.  This year is no exception, but it has been an exceptional year, and we know that these gifts will be especially welcome in 2020.

If you would like to donate item/s so that we can make up Christmas Hampers, please purchase the item/s that correspond with your surname. Please leave your items either in the storage box at the top of the ramp at the back of church or hand in through the office window by Friday 4th December.  Thank you in advance.

What is the Besom In York?

The Besom exists to be a bridge between those who want to give their time, skills, money, or things to those who are in need. The Besom is a national charity with bases all around the country. James Odgers founded the charity in 1987, after a trip to Hong Kong, working with Jackie Pullinger. He noticed that the gap between those who have and those who don’t exists not only in Hong Kong, but all over the world. He wrote the Besom vision on the flight on the way home. The Besom in York was started by Rob and Sam 13 years ago.  The Besom in York is a registered charity and more details of their work can be found at
